WHAT AN EVENT!

CPAWS Wildlands League celebrated its 3rd Annual Paddle the Rouge in a very special way, with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Madame Sophie Gregoire Trudeau and their daughter Ella Grace. Nearly 200 paddlers joined us on June 18, 2016, including a record 50 youth for our free learn to paddle session.

We were honored to be joined by the Toronto and York Region Métis Council, who provided historical displays on the beach, and many distinguished guests.

As you’ll see in our video, it was a very important year, with an announcement by Ontario Minister of Economic Development and Growth Brad Duguid. This was on the heels of the federal government introducing legislation to amend the Rouge National Urban Park Act in the House of Commons. The bill prioritizes ecological integrity in law in the management of the park. Learn more.

None of this could have been made possible without our team of volunteers and our generous corporate supporters. Thank you to everyone who helped make this an event we’ll remember forever!
