A new protected area for Ontario’s North French River will safeguard a boreal refuge of immense biodiversity, provide a critical buffer against climate change, and affirm Reconciliation is more than just a fancy word.

All that’s missing is support from the provincial government.

Wildlands League started working with Indigenous leaders in 2002, when watershed-level protection was first proposed. Moose Cree First Nation has petitioned the Ontario government to outlaw logging, mining and other industrial development in the watershed—to no avail.

We need your help. It’s time to get this done.

Send a message to Premier Doug Ford, Minister Smith and Minister Khanjin. We’ll also send a copy to your MPP. Let them know you support Moose Cree’s efforts to build an Indigenous Protected Area and you want Ontario to act.
